Camden Film Screening to debut The IDEA Performing Arts Centers’ Film Series, in collaboration with Lloyd E.Booker, Actor and Educator; and Mark Elson of Rave Motion Pictures Ritz Center 16, located in Voorhees NJ
The Evils Movie is a film from director and producer Hakim Hudson of Desperado Media Group.
The Evils is a raw unfiltered glimpse into the lives of those affected by the drug trade- from the users to the buyers, to the dealers who sell it and the police trying to catch them. Primarily shot on location in Philadelphia, the “Evils “is the story of Jerome Grimes, a young man who gets caught in the life due to a tragic childhood.
The Evils will debut in Camden at the IDEA Performing Arts Center at the Susquehanna Bank Center on the Camden Waterfront Thursday June 17th 2010 in an effort to bring attention to the senseless life and death of our youth here in Camden and throughout the nation who are caught up in the drug trade.
The IDEA Film Series is a partnership between Booker/Mark Productions and the Rave Motion Pictures Ritz Center 16 and will bring local and national film makers and actors to Camden to debut their films to the local community in a grassroots effort to save and influence our youth to have a “Victory over Violence” .
The screening - on Thursday June 17th at 5:30 pm - will take place at the new IDEA Performing Arts Center in their black box theatre and will include a red carpet reception, an art exhibit and a jazz performance. Immediately following the screening, a group discussion with the actors and film maker will take place about the effect the drug trade has had and is having on our youth here in Camden and the entire nation.

The long-awaited remake of THE KARATE KID starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith finallopened to great reviews and even bigger boxoffice, pulling in $56 million in its first 3 days of release. Reelblack Members had an opportunity to preview the film. The consensus was that this is excellent family entertainment. Jaden (Will’s son) and Jackie have excellent chemistry and the choice to set the film in China exposes young viewers to a world and culture that is sure to inspire. The Karate Kid is a definite must see and comes with Reelblack’s HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
Also in theaters today: The A-Team (not previewed) and Solitary Man, which features an excellent cast led by Michael Douglas, who is sure to garner an Oscar nomination as another man you love to hate (Recommended).
