Who We Are

Reelblack's mission is to educate, enlighten, entertain and empower people through Black film. Since 2007, we have been capturing the New Black Film Revolution through interviews with the filmmakers, actors and musicians that make up the movement. In addition to our original content, we dig through archives to share video and music relevant to these conversations.

Reelblack founder MIKE D. is a graduate of both NYU film School and The American Film Institute. His 2008 short film, THE 13TH AMENDMENT played in several festivals and won the jury prize in CNN's inaugural IREPORT FILM FESTIVAL. His 1989 NYU short, WHO IS CHRIS ROCK? went viral after being featured on Huffington Post and spawned a follow-up, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, JORDAN ROCK in 2011.

If there is content shared on this platform that you feel infringes on your intellectual property, please email me at Reelblack@mail.com and info@reelblack.com with details and it will be promptly removed.

As of March 23, 2022, we will no longer receive ad revenue for any video on this channel, even though YouTube sells advertising on them.

The reason, we have been told, is because we are a channel that presents historical content as opposed to original content.

We refuse to be blacked out. We need your support.

REELBLACK TWO, is our backup YouTube Channel that carries New Original content plus Classics from The Reelblack Vault that will be monetized. We ask that you subscribe there. https://www.youtube.com/ReelblackTwo

Please buy Reelblack merchandise, make a donation through CashApp or PayPal or by joining our Patreon so that we can have the resources necessary to keep the channel growing.
